Of course. You have to purchase something. A free game won't do it.

You can buy games for $0.49. Geez.

Currently at 90%OFF, this game is just 10¢

Buy it as a gift and give it away to a friend/stranger if you don't want it in your library.

If you are unwilling to spend just 1p every calendar year; cheapskates like you don't deserve to use such features. Steam is a free platform but if you want to use such things; you've got to give something back and one measly purchase is all that's required. When you've finally made a purchase; you'll still have to wait 30 days.

No, that's for limited accounts. You just have to buy somthing for any price in this case.

$5 USD is only to unlock the account from being limited, the yearly purchase is a different rule.

Why should Steam give you access to THEIR market to make money for yourself when you are not even willing to spend a few cents A YEAR on their shop?
If you dont want another game, buy one for 10 cent and then remove it with the " remove game from account" function on the Support page. Problem solved.
I will definitely defend Steam in this case. Steam is not a charity, its a shop that wants to make a profit, like every other shop.
