What do I do if I no longer have access to the contact email account on record with Steam?

A couple of years ago, I made my son a Steam account using a Lycos email I rarely use. He now has a new laptop, and I was trying to open his Steam account there, and so the authentication code is sent to the email associated with it.

Here's the thing: apparently, sometime in the last six months or so, Lycos decided to remove all free email accounts from Asian countries, mine included. So I can't get the code anymore.

So now, what do I do? FYI, the title of this discussion thread I took from the Steam Support page, which eventually leads to a different page telling me to LOG IN TO MY STEAM ACCOUNT, which is obviously impossible since that is EXACTLY WHAT MY PROBLEM IS in the first place!

Okay, gripe over.

Be prepared to provide proof of ownership. I.e. a transaction number for something you purchased through that account from steam or from wallet funds you added to the account.
