DualShock 4 on PC - Metal Gear the phantom pain right stick doesn't work

Hi,
Just bought the Sony DualShock 4 Controller and hook up with PC. Steam picks it up and Windows 10 Game Controller setup shows everyting is fine including right stick. When the game started, the right stick just doesn't work. Therefore, my camera is fixed (doesn't pan like you do using the mouse). I searched the internet and see a lot questions posted but no actual solution. Anybody has any suggestion?

Just tried it on Ground Zero and all works perfectly. Why it doesn't work on TPP?

I do, but generally with the Steam Controller Configurator which would just mimic the Xbox 360 -pad rendering these kinda issues more or less non-issues.

There's mods for most button prompts anyway.

As does MGS5: TPP apparently,

I went ahead and install the mod and unfortunately it doesn't work. Under the controller section, it was displayed correctly as DS4 with right buttons reference and picture but the right stick and left pad still don't work!

I didn't use DualShock 4 with MGS5 TPP in particular. I used the regular Xbox -pad for that.

Because that's not what the mod is for. The mod is only to replace the button prompts (icons).

Anyhow, to elaborate on the point I was making. Plug DualShock 4 into your PC. Hold [Alt] and [Enter] -buttons to enter Big Picture Mode, go under [Settings > Controller Settings]

Tick this box,

PS4 Configuration Support

Now unplug your controller, and re-plug it in. It should have the color you've selected while under Big Picture Mode. Hold [Alt] and [Enter] again to leave Big Picture Mode.

If you want to play with desktop view (and not Big Picture Mode), go under [Steam > Settings > In-Game] and untick the following box,

Now while viewing your library, right mouse click [Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain] and choose [Edit Steam Controller Configurator] and you should come across this menu.

As you can see, this would make the game assume you're using an Xbox 360 controller, like various other controller emulators (like DS4Windows) does, but requires no extra programs to do so. I usually bind the right side of the touchpad to Steam screenshotting, but that's up to you.

Generally you need to tweak nothing else, just hit [Export Config] and save it as a local profile.

Then get the button prompt mod and follow its installation guide on Nexus,

Installation
Download[www.nexusmods.com] and unpack the mod into
MGS_TPP\master\0
Download Sergeanur's QAR Tool[www.dropbox.com], unpack all (5) files to
MGS_TPP\master\0
Run DS3_install_DATver.bat (or DS4_install_DATver.bat)
If prompted, press "a"
You're done!
Whenever the 01.dat file gets patched, you'll have to reinstall the mod.
Make sure you're copying every file to the correct folder. Yes, the toadd.txt is important.

The above will change all the XABYs to PlayStation icons and it's like you're playing with full DualShock 4 support. Since it's mimicking Xbox 360, it shouldn't have issues with the right stick, unless the fault is at the controller itself.

Teutep, thanks for your response. Before I saw it, I tried to launch the game through the Big Picture mode and it works perfectly! Not sure what happened coz when playing Ground Zero, it doesn't matter how I launch the game. But anyhow, it does work and thanks again for your help!
