Please help, i don't know how to load my backup files!
I have read the guide, but it did not provide me any help. I have a windows 10 and my backup was for Starbound - Unstable and was called Starbound - Unstable. I deleted all game data and the game because the game did not work (I backed it up first) but i did not find anything when searching for the backup! PLEASE SOMEONE. I DONT KNOW WHAT FORMAT THE BACKUP IS. I BACKED IT UP BY RIGHT CLICKING THE GAME IN STEAM AND CLICKING "Backup game files..."

You can load them with [Steam > Backup and Restore Games > Restore a previous backup]

They're in CSD and CSM format with a SIS file to accompany them.

You don't have to type in anything?

You use the built-in tool to locate the folder.

I honestly don't understand what the issue is that you're having then.

Unless you specifically put it in a different folder, then it should be under
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\Backups\

Fetching the folder from that location (or wherever you made the backup which contains the CSM, CSD files and the SIS file) and then hitting [Next] should be enough.

I did have to click [Browse] to enter the next folder for it to find the backups though as evident in the first image.

There is no folder beneath the backups folder.

Then either you planted it elsewhere, or you no longer have a backup.

i.e. Uninstalling Steam removes everything from the folder.

What should the .sis file be called?

For BAD END for example the files are as follow,
C:\Games\Steam\Backups\BAD END\Disk_1
  • 228990_depotcache_1.csd
  • 228990_depotcache_1.csm
  • 415851_depotcache_1.csd
  • 415851_depotcache_1.csm
  • sku.sis

The numbers come from the packed depots. In BAD END's case (my example):
https://steamdb.info/app/415850/depots/
    228990
    DirectX Jun 2010 Redist
    415851
    BAD END Content

You can see the same numbers repeat.
