GTX 1070 Game black screen/flickering/crashing
For the longest while, now, my computer has been having trouble with certain games, like tf2, skyrim, shadow of mordor and final fantasy XIV. ive tried uninstalling and reinstalling my video drivers multiple times, but nothing has gotten better, it seems to have gotten worse. The games will occasionally flicker or go black, which basically makes the game unplayable, especially in multiplayer. If you guys know of any other methods to fix it, please let me know.

Are you overclocking any hardware?

Wipe the drivers/software using DDU app
When you reinstall them, select Custom > Forceware and PhysX only, nothing else.

Are you using a launch 1070? Mine started having issues (asus strix launch model) and had to be replaced, it was system wide (all games had issues) and would crash or have bad problems with anything 3d.

It could also be a monitor issue, the playstation monitor for example would black screen after it warmed up, the only fix was to add a fan blowing on the back part where the electronics were.

I'm not sure if it's a launch model, how can I check?

You can have this issue with some games if you force max refresh rate from the Nvidia control panel. Some games don't play well with forced settings.

(if you have asus strix card)
Run gpu-z and see if it says asus next to subvendor or if that field is blank. If it's blank or something other than asus then it's a launch model, also if your card has micron ram that could be causing issues. If it says asus next to subvendor your card probably isn't the issue, the cards that are properly identified have the updated bios.

Did you mean GeForce experience and physx?
Bad 💀 Motha 12. apr. 2017 kl. 8:18
No, just Forceware and PhysX; for many Geforce Experience is the actual cause of their issues, there is zero need for that.

Okay, so I tried these methods and shadow of motor still crashes, but tf2 has very minimal flickering.

Can you make a video? IDK what folks mean by "flicker" we're not on CRT Monitors anymore, so I'm not even sure what that means.

If you getting flickinging on an LCD/HDTV, chances are the screen is bad, or the GPU is bad.

Double check connections too; flicker can occur with crappy connection.
One reason why I 100% dislike HDMI, it has no secure method to give the user any idea it's fully inserted; at least DVI or DP lock down into place.

By flicker, I mean that the screen sort of quickly switches from the game screen to multiple black screens with a few colored spots. Also, its a little hard to make a video when these occurences happen randomly and you could be just recording for a long period of time with no outcome. The only occurence that is consistent is shadow of modor crashing as it crashes not long after getting to the title screen.

I don't think it's the display as it's a laptop. It may be the gpu, but I have no idea how to fix it.

A laptop has a discrete panel just like a monitor.

Well the main reason that I don't think it's the display is because a lot of the times when it flickers, the sound loops over the last half second.
