E-mail verification
Sorry if this is an old topic but the e-mail verification every time I enter Steam is just ridiculous. I have a library of around 50 games, but I only play once a month at most. Every, single, time I open steam I get hit with Steam updates and e-mail verification. I dread opening Steam for the hassle. Perhaps, Valve could better balance updates and security prompts. It's just a game launcher for me guys.

Either you're not saving the computer, or something keeps removing your cookies.

For example, CCleaner - if you don't exclude Steam with it.

I have a good sized library too, but this doesn't happen to me. I verified my email the first time it asked, never had to do it again. I suggest you set up two-factor authentication, steam might be freaking out that you don't have that, idk just throwing ideas.

Shouldn't be occuring regardless.

I have other accounts without SGMA tied to them, and as long as nothing removes my cookies and I tick this box upon login,
:correctamundo:
Remember this computer

And I don't have this box ticked under [Steam > Settings > Account]
    _
Don't save account credentials on this computer
This option is recommended for public computers. Note that this will disable 'Offline Mode.'

It doesn't ask for the Steam Guard code upon login.

Thanks guys. It's Steam Guard. I don't want to turn this off but I might due to the constant e-mail verification requests. I don't think it's cookies as cookies are browser based and this occurs in the Steam app. I suspect it's because I only sign in once a month at most.

I know it's cookies based, because this has been posted oh-so-many times before.

Even this,
https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=1047-edfm-2932
Newly Authorized Device
If you are logging onto Steam from a device that has not been previously authorized by Steam Guard (log in confirmed via email), you will not be able to trade or use the Community Market from this device for 7 days. Any other devices that have already been authorized for at least 7 days will still be able to trade and use the Community Market. Actions such as clearing your web browser cookies, using a new web browser, reinstalling Steam, and reformatting your computer will make that device look new to Steam and will trigger this restriction.

Steam is a browser too. All games are executed with a browser protocol of steam://rungameid/%app-ID% and if you use the client console, you can practically open any website with Steam.

If you have CCleaner or a similar sort, make sure to exclude Steam with it.

I have this same issue and don't have any software that removes cookies. Nor have I cleared cookies. But steam does this when ever I don't play a game for a month/reboot pc, or who knows what triggers it. I have even setup the two-factor authentication last time and it still does this more frequent then I care to have to verify my email.

Due to saying "I have even" after making it clear you're using Steam Guard, I've to ask, do you mean Steam Guard Mobile Authenticator?

That on the other hand demands the authenticator / backup code from me if I use [Change User...] on the desktop client.

Yes I mean Steam Guard Mobile Authenticator, I'm having difficulty in understanding what you're trying to say in

What I'm saying is, unless I change users, I don't get asked for the code whenever I use the desktop client on a user that uses SGMA.

Teutep, I believe you are misunderstanding what me and the OP are stating. Steam is not requiring an authentication code, it is requiring that our email addresses be authenticated

"Is this still your current email address? User@domain Yes No, update
Your email address is used to confirm purchases and help you manage access to your Steam account"
Tev Apr 16, 2017 @ 8:39am
Ah, d'oh. You're right, teaches me to pay more attention, I hope.

Then I don't know, unfortunately. :/ Haven't seen any clear patterns as to when these messages usually pop up, as I've had it come up at different times on my other accounts than the current one.

Could imagine it has to do with some levels of activity, but -- that's about as good as my guess can go, and one would imagine anyone's guess is that good.

Even with remember this computer I still have to authenticate my email address every 1-3 months.
