Sudden massive fps drop on high end laptop
I have an acer predator with 7820hk, nvidia gtx 1080, 64gb ram,ssd of 1.5T. Everything was fine yesterday. I record my gameplays with obs and i played cs:go, tom clancy ghost recon and league of legends. I have 4k display and 2 days ago i got 300 fps in cs:go and i think i had the 300 fps limit on and when i was recording it didnt drop much but from today today i get 20 fps!!!!! I am so sad because i have this laptop for a month now and i wanted for such a long time to fullfill my dream of becoming a youtuber with my gameplays. Today, When im not recording i get 150 and when im recording i get 20 fps. With the specs 150 it seems low to me but 20fps when recording??? I do not understand why because i use the same settings as usual when everything was fine. I tried to play tom clancy too and it became a bit laggy too.

I know persons who do not have these specs and get above 300 fps and i dont know what to do .

Now heres what i have done :
I tried to use bandicam and xsplit instead of obs even if obs worked fine till today.
Yesterday i updates to new windows 10 creators.
Today i performed a retore to the laptop and deleted all my data.
The problem is the same, in cs the fps has moments noe when it almost reaches 180 but when i record drops instantly to 20 no matter what program i used.
all my drivers are updated.

Thanks for reading and any answers would be very helpful thank you guys
EDIT: i solved the problem it was the windows creators update that made my fps get so low

1.A Laptop for recording gameplay :2016whoadude:
2.Check your drives if they are getting to much load while recording
3.Check your cooling system
4.Check your Energy plans. Do so by right cklicking onto the battery symbol in the task bar and go to Power plans and then there is a maximum power one which ignores power savings.
5.If anything helps add me.
Creator's update ?

Yes it is this update https://www.google.ro/amp/s/blogs.windows.com/windowsexperience/2017/04/11/how-to-get-the-windows-10-creators-update/amp/ i installed it before the fps drop happened but then i reset the pc and selected the option to clean all the drives and still nothing improved

The laptop is kinda new, it's probably not the cooling system or performances would have been bad since the begininning.

I think you should check the updates you've made, windows, drivers (Nvidia, the way it's meant to be ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up...), softwares...

Make sure you're using the right GPU to avoid your laptop using the iGPU of your CPU, which could lead to horrible performances.
In Nvidia parameters you can access from a right-click on the desk => Nvidia control center or something like that => You'll have an option to set to "always use high-end Nvidia processor" or something like that (again...). I think it's the first thing you see when opening parameters, but I can't check it right now, if I'm not clear enough, ask google for a better tutorial. This solve 99% encoutered with laptops.

And I agree that buying a laptop to record gameplay is... Funny. It gets better, but still... I guess you had a good reason, but honestly, when you need something powerful, avoid laptops if possible. You can't upgrade them, quality is often poor, performances are ridiculous compared to desktops, and... They are extremely expensive. Mostly because you'll need a new one in 2-3 years if you want to keep having AAA performances, which will make you buy not only a new CPU/GPU etc, but also, a new screen, a new case, a new keyboard, a new supply... A lot of things you don't really need. This was off-topic, but it's always good to tell.

Also, 300 fps is useless. Like using a nuke to kill that spider in your closets. Useless. Overkill to be more accurate. If your screen can display more than 60 fps, it would be nice. But it won't show more than 140 in the best case, and I doubt this is your case.

I entered the nvidia control panel but i dont have that option. I searched on the internet and i know what you are talking about but my laptop does not show me that option

My guess is you're experiencing thermal throttling. Where your system slows down the cpu and gpu to you know, keep those things from frying themselves..
