Steam scroll speed adjustment?
So most things on my PC scroll at a relatively slow rate, including Word, browser, txt files. However anything related to Steam scroll 1.5 pages with a single click of the mouse wheel. This has gone on for years now and I've simply gotten used to using the side bar to scroll instead, but now I'm wondering. Does anyone know a way to slow down Steam's scroll speed?

I have the same problem. Steam scrolls a page, or more, at a time even though Windows Mouse settings are on lines at a time. If I change Windows Mouse to scroll a screen at a time, then steam scrolls lines at a time but all other applications scroll a screen at a time. Why is steam doing the opposite of the Windows Mouse setting?

In the end I never figured it out, but after doing a full reinstall of Windows the problem did not reappear. My guess is its something wrong in the registry for steam as reinstalling steam never fixed the issue before.

This was a fresh installation of windows 10 and steam... My children have steam accounts and they don't have the issue. I wish steam support would publish information about where to find settings so I can try to fix the issue.

This ♥♥♥♥ has been BROKEN for YEARS. They're never going to fix it.

Yep, it has to do with how steam scales off the windows mouse setting of lines moved per scroll wheel input. If the windows mouse setting for lines per scroll is set higher than 4, the steam scale is too high and it scrolls pages. The Windows default for mouse scroll is 3 lines. I use 10 lines per scroll so steam overscales and scrolls the page way too far. Knowing what is wrong and where is slightly helpful. Steam is broken and they have no intention of fixing it. Probably because it would break big screen mode. I try to manually drag the scroll bar but I frequently forget and scroll to the bottom. At least I know why.

Oh this is an old topic I almost forgot about. Turns out for my specific issue it had to due with my mouse driver. My specific mouse, a Steel Series, there was an option for scrolling speed which for some apps overrid the Windows scroll speed. But only specific apps it seems. Turning that setting up fixed the entire problem. If anyone else has the same issue I'd recommend checking your driver settings instead of Windows settings.

That's an interesting note about steel series mouse software. I've tested this issue on 6-8 different computers, mostly with Logitech and Razer mouse software. If changing the Windows Mouse Scroll settings to 4 or fewer lines does not address the issue, the specific mouse software settings would be the next logical place to look.

The problem was found after a reformat where steam was working great but imediately after installing the latest mouse driver, steam scrolling broke again. Was pretty obvious what the culprit was at that point.
