Region locked cd key codes?

So I am currently on vacation in Germany and Hungary and have been buying retail copies of games that contain cd keys within them. I was wondering if they would work all fine and dandy when I enter them into my account when I get back home to the United States. Thanks! Mostly worried if the cd keys from the German and Hungarian retail copies are region locked when I add them to my North American account.

Should not be region locked. With German games there's always the chance they are censored, though (and maybe even German language only).

Yes I noticed that on German titles, thy say 100% uncut which is not on any North American retail copies

There was at least one case where the US version of a game was censored and the German one wasn't. Giants: Citizen Kabuto had a topless female character everywhere else but in the states she was covered. Hah.

If my for instance a German retail copy of The Evil Within were to be entered into my North American account would the language be in German or would I be able to change it?

There are actually not that so many games anymore that are censored in Germany. got way better over the last 10 years or so. Only prominent examples that come to mind are the 2 new Wolfenstein games, and that censorship was only the Nazi symbols because that is against German law to display in video games. Even the last Mortal Kombat and the new DOOM released totally uncensored.
So if you dont buy a bunch of rather old games you dont need to worry much.

The German version of Evil Within is multi language and uncut. Its 100% identical to the international version.

The original release of The Witcher was censored in the US too. Boobies are dangerous!

The German codes will most likely work, wouldn't surprise me if the Hungarian ones are region locked.

If a game is region locked its mentioned on the online store page ( this product can only be activated and played while in country XXX).
No clue if retail cases have the same info. German Games are never region locked so you wont have any problems there. Hungary most likely is since all the games are much cheaper in the eastern european countries.
