Steam Big Picture Messing Up My Controller
So I've recently heard that through Big Picture one'd be able to re-map controls for For Honor. I attempted that, using Big Picture for the first time. It was a sound failure.

The controls went crazy on the game.

Solution I had: Not use it.

But even with Big Picture closed my controller would still use the layout that was set, and it'd continue to be crazy af.

My only solution now, if I want to use my controller, is to close Steam entirely. And I haven't found any way to disconnect/disconfigure/unregister this controller layout or anything similar.

Anyone has a solution for this?

Edit: Using an Xbox 360 Controller.

Edit 2:
For instance, my controller is also apparently working as a mouse. Its' left trigger is as if it was a mouse's right click. How I managed that? No clue.

Did you ever find a solution for this? I am having the same problem.

found a solution i deleted controller_base. config, appcache in the main stem folder and then depotcache which was under steam or steamapps?? but one of those worked.

It kinda solved itself on its own?
I did log off and logged in with different accounts. Perhaps that solved it?

Steps to hopefully fix it for you guys.
1. Open steam in big picture. Click the controller next to minimize
2. Go to settings in the top right. The gear
3. Base configuration
4. Desktop configuration
5. Browse configs
6. Templates
7. Gamepad with camera controls

I hope this helps someone. It worked for me trying to play GTA V.

Having the same problem with my XB1 controller.....Only thing that doesnt work now is the right analog to be a camera to pan the area.

Turn off the xbox one controller support. Or whatever it is called. Make sure it is off and it "should" work.

i had this problem with a ps4 controller and turning off "PlayStation Configuration Support" worked for me
BIG PICTURE'S CONTROLLS TAKES OVER IN THE BACKGROUND EITHER TURN IT ON WHEN YOU NEED A GAME THAT DOES NOT HAVE CONTROLLER SUPPORT OR LEAVE IT OFF UNTIL YOU HAVE A BETTER UNDERDSTANDING OF HOW TO USE IT AND SET IT UP, I TRIED TO SET IT FOR CONQUERS BLADE BUT FOUND IT HARD TO USE BUT MANGEABLE GIVEN THE TIME AND HAVING ENOUGH BUTTONS ON THE CONTOL ITSELF
