If the VPN didn't change their region then there is no reason to contact support.
Valve would only care if the location got "faked" outside of your country/region.
Most importantly, if you faked your location intentionally and for a malicious reason. For example, your country is only important if you sell a lot of items on the market for tax reasons. Your region only counts if you are buying lot of games, again for tax reasons but also for pricing.
What is even more important than your IP address is where did you declare to be resident of in your account information. If you stated honestly that you were in US there then your IP address don't count for anything. So as i see it, faking your location has more to do with your billing information. But you most probably used some US bank for your purchases and didn't lie about your address or did you?
Then don't worry about it. You can keep using VPN as long as it doesn't change your country when you buy/sell things and all is fine.
