How do I make games update automatically whenver steam is open.
The current way it updates games is, it schedules them throughout the day and when the time arrives it downloads the update. I don't set the time though so it's completely stupid and arbitrary that it even does this. I want it to update as soon as an update is available. I've looked all over steam and couldn't find any option to do this.

It's on the settings menu under the download tab. You can choose Steam to auto update games between 00:00 and 23:00.

That changed nothing, it still schedules an update for whatever time it pleases and doesn't just do it immediately.
Steam does this to balance the load across the entire day, instead of everyone downloading an update at the same time. You can force the queued update to start if you want.

Ah that makes sense. I can imagine the server load would be pretty big on more popular games. I suppose I can deal with a little annoyance.
