100mbps internet plan but only 1.5mb/s download in steam

how do i raise the download speed on steam or in general? it was 1.5mb/s before when i had only 25mbps internet.

Keep in mind that ISPs like to advertise in bits, as it's the larger number (there are 8 bits in 1 byte) while Steam, by default, measures in bytes.

Also try to change download server region. Sometimes a server region may act up for a while and give you lower speeds.

Ehm, no. 100 Mbp/s is about 12 MB/s not 1,2.
Im on a 50 mb/s connection and i download with 6 MB/s.

Try a different download server. This isn't a Steam issue, I have 220Mb and just hit 27MB/s downloading the Humble Monthly games.

You may also want to check if your ISP is throttling your connection to Steam. Some sneaky ISP's like to throttle high bandwith websites like Steam and Netflix.
