[QUESTION] How do I remove a Recommended Tag from the list of Steam suggestions?
Steam support is a mess, so don't quote me on this... I didn't found my question answered there...

((Also this forum structure is also a mess, and I'm not sure if I will get my question answered by posting here... but there's no other place I can see where to place support inquiries that aren't already entered in the system. Feel free to move this post if there's a better sub-sub-sub forum that matches the topic at hand.))

My current problem is that I want to remove a recommended tag from the list of tags suggested by Steam.

Concrete issue is, since I play Conan Exiles that happens to have the tag "Nudity" in it, now Steam store offers me all kind of crippy anime crap games focused on nudity.

I'd want to remove that tag, or filter it or something. I haven't found any way of eliminating suggested tags.

Also, and somewhat related to this, since you have the tag system in place, it'd be awesome if you let us block by tag too, as in apply a negative filter to the list blocking a specific tag from suggestions.

I know I'd use it to block some tags for games types I do not like and don't interest me at all.

Thanks for the reply and the attempt to help! But sadly that's not sufficient for my case :(

I already did knew about that filter (but look at '*' below), and in fact I have some tags blocked there, but filtering games by tags are more encompasing to game's genres than just an indication that "nudity" is present in them.

What I mean is: I don't want to filter out games with just Nudity tag, (I don't have problem with nudity in games per-se... i.e. case in point: Conan Exiles...) since I don't want to block games that I could potentially like in the future.

What I'd want to do is to make Steam NOT suggest games as recommended just because they share the tag 'X' (let's leave the specific tag out of the discussion... as it'd more generally useful I think.)

Both conditions produces different final results (AFAIK):

Case 1 (Filtering out tag 'X' completely): (again AFAIK), will also block games from searches and lists not coming from Steam's 'recomended by tag X feature', which is too strict a filter for this case.

Case 2 (Which I would want): Just removes the category "Games suggested by Steam because you played games with X tag" from the list of recomended games in the store page.

In summary (kind of TL/DR), I'd like an option to opt out from the 'recommended by tag' section for specific tags...

I might play games with 'X' tag, but that doesn't mean that I like that particular feature in ALL games that ever existed and will exist in the future... or maybe it means that that feature is not important enough to me to judge games in relation to it.

* Also, to note as an important aside: the list generated for 'played games with X tag' doesn't seem to respect the blocked tags in preferences... in my particular case, indeed, ALL the games in the recommendation list for the 'Nudity' tag are anime games, and I have specifically blocked the 'Anime' tag in my filter preferences.

So, even if it was an use case for that feature, it doesn't seem to be working as intended.

Also, again thanks for the reply and sorry for long winded post.

HOW TO REMOVE RECOMMENDED STEAM TAGS

1. Scroll down on your main store page until you see "Your Discovery Queue."
2. Click on "Learn More" at the upper-right of the queue.
3. On the next page, just below the queue, click the button "Customize your queue."
4. Under "Exclude products with these tags" type the tag you don't want to see and hit "Add."
5. Click "OK" and Enjoy!

This change will apply to the "Featured & Recommended" section as well.

@jthighwind,

Thank you for the reply! I already did that... thing is, at least at the moment I wrote this original post, Steam's "Recommended By tag 'X'" seemed to ignore those filtered tags.

In any case, Yes, I agree that yours should be the correct answer if it indeed it works correctly now!

Don't know if that was fixed or not, as I've been boycoting Steam completely since they removed Paypal as an option for payments in my region.

And by that what that means is, I don't look at games on Steam anymore... so I don't know if that's fixed or not.

As the OP noted, exclusions are not being respected in discovery queues, featured, or recommended titles. What does happen is a banner stating "has excluded tags" appears over the thumbnail for the title. Similarly, ignored titles still appear as recommendations (not sure about queues or featured) with the thumbnail ghosted.
