Steam Big Picture shows 3 GB for GTX 1070
In Big Picture mode Steam shows my display device as Nvidia GTX 1070 3 GB, obviously it has 8 GB. In normal mode the system information shows Primary VRAM 8192 MB. CPU-Z also shows 8192 MB.

Is this just a bug for the Big Picture display information? Or does launching games from Big Picture mode only allow them to use 3 GB of the 8 GB? I don't use Big Picture mode often enough to notice.

I suppose I could launch GTA V and check performance, but I'm literally playing Lego Harry Potter with my girlfriend, and will be for a few hours at least lmao. I was more just curious why Steam does this, not as much worried about it affecting performance.

Normal...
And yes, games like GTAV will show all 8GB of VRAM; look in the game settings.
Most apps and even the OS may say otherwise, but that is just false reporting that has no bearing on usage.

Use GPU-Z to view your GPU accurately.
