PC connected to 55'' TV with HDMI but games only show up on pc

I bought a brand new dell inspiron 15 7000 gaming laptop and as you may know the screen is a little wack on it so i decided to connect it to a T.V with an HDMI cable but when i run games on steam I can olnly see the game on my laptop screen and not the T.V. your help would be much appreciated

Make sure ur in the right input in your TV. Check your monitor settings and change the monitor to the tv.

thanks for the reply, im looking at the T.V right now and using it as a secondary screen its just when i launch games i can only view the screen form the laptop and not the T.V

Go into the display settings and make sure it says duplicate these screens or whatever it says its under resolution i think

I've had this problem with a couple of games. Some games select the screen on the left and don't look further. I solved the problem for me by switching the screen placement on the computer control panel; i.e. putting the screen I want to play on to the left.

Also, some tv's don't have pure HDMI. They cut corners that give adiquate tv purformance but when using a tv as a monitor, problems arise, like maybe a game won't recognize the screen format.
