The screenshots on my profile are all old, JPG-compressed shots. Those are going to have artifacts all over the place anyways, that's not really what I mean.
Here's a side-by-side comparison: https://www.burstattack.com/misc/blurry-screenshots.png
If you go to Steam>help>system info> and paste that info here it might tell us.
Is it just the interface? Crisp polygons on the characters?
I'm kind of curious to see a whole screenshot from steam, the PNG one with both UI thats blurry and the rest blurry or not.
I never use steams F12 to capture shots as the compression is too noticable.
Steam allows you to capture uncompressed PNG screenshots if you enable the setting. This is what I'm referring to, I mentioned that specifically.
My monitor isn't anything special. It's 1920x1200 and I run my games at various resolutions depending on the game, but generally either 1920x1200 fullscreen or 1920x1080 windowed.
Unfortunately it's not just the interface, it does this effect across the entire screenshot.
I'm a bit frustrated at this point, I have to re-do probably 20 hours of work because I just gave these the benefit of the doubt and didn't stop and look closely enough to realize that all of the screenshots I was taking looked like piss.
Per your request here's a screenshot from Baldur's Gate 2 showing the effect across the entire shot: https://www.burstattack.com/misc/bg2-blur.png
Though this shot doesn't really convey much information on its own without a frame of reference. It does the same thing on every game I've tried so far though, including more modern stuff.
Do you think the game looks better than that screenshot when you play it? The portrait in the top right looks pretty crisp?
Found png screenshot of BG2, looks about the same to me? It's a lot less zoomed out but the side interface looks similar? http://press.baldursgateii.com/images/5-PC-English.png
EDIT: I guess the text is a bit crisper in my link? rest looks fine though?
A few days back I'd been inspecting some screenshots from other games and thought they looked oddly blurry, and then when I encountered the discrepancy in this game I just assumed it was the same issue. It wasn't.
After going back and double-checking some other games, Steam's screenshots for those are fine.
It still is doing it for Baldur's Gate (across the entire screen, it's not only the text/UI), but since it's limited to this game it's not nearly as big of an issue as I'd thought. It's got to be something to do with the game settings or rendering settings that are being applied to this title specifically.
I'll continue to dig around and hopefully get this figured out, but thankfully all of my shots of other games aren't wasted.
Forcen, I appreciate your help!
Are you kidding me?
1) There's no website at that domain.
2) If these look the same to you: https://www.burstattack.com/misc/blurry-screenshots.png then I would recommend a trip to the optometrist.
Nightenhelser: you are either way off base or trolling.. Image is fine and you can see the difference. What is the issue?
