If you can afford it, buy a new game on a sale, get on the forums to get pummled by fanbois and white knigh defenders if you say the wrong thing ( sarcasm lol), or do as I do, get out and see the real life.
I know it sounds cheesey but there really is a world out there and life outside of gaming. I suffer from misanthropy in real life. I hate crowds and the whole human race as a whole, but I do have a gf who lives with me and I do try to do things with her. Plus she has a "honey do" list for me..lol
Also just look at the steam library, find a game that looks interesting, then get on youtube and look at the gameplay. I do this for every game I am thinking of getting, or just bored. Before you know it, half the day is gone...lol
I found a few free games that I still enjoy, they surprised me for being free. Other than that, not sure what else to do.
what occasionally helps is discussing about said game with someone online.

There are also other websites that organize your games by games played, games you haven't played and picks from games you haven't logged any hours on.
The biggest issue imo is too many options. Back when I was younger, I could only afford maybe 6 games a year so I played the crap out of everything I bought.
What I would do is make a list of games you want to play or want to complete. You don't necessarily need to unlock every secret, collectible and achievement in the game but many games like Portal for example, deserve at least one full play through. Create a category in your Steam library and add them to it. When you have some spare time, pick a game from that category.
Don't force yourself to play games you don't want to.
Something like X-Com, where there is no free roaming - only fixed missions. I play 1 or 2 missions having fun, pushing the story forward, getting the feeling of achievement - and then it's back to the chores.
