Steam Achievements failing to unlock
I've been playing Master of Orion since early access. To date, I have logged 591 hours. I continually unlock new achievements with Group Therapy unlocking 18 Mar 2300hrs 2017. Lately I have been trying to complete the Mastery achievements. I unlocked the Mrrshan Mastery achievement on 07 Oct 1007hrs 2016. Over the past few weeks, I have completed all the original victory types with the Silicoid and Human, however neither mastery achievement unlocked. I have queried this through forums and general web searches to no avail. The consensus is that some achievements are bugged. I am one of millions of gamers that attempt to unlock most, if not all, of a games available achievements.
I queried the Steam forum and found many gamers are experiencing the same issue through numerous games. Steam has a support page for each game linking directly to the game developers. I asked my question to Wargamers.net, the owners of Master of Orion, and received a prompt reply stating that since my issue was about Steam achievements, Steam was responsible to offer a solution. So, I returned my focus towards Steam/Valve. There is no direct means of communicating with a live person about anything. I selected “open a ticket” and was taken to a link to the game owners. I found this link: https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=4462-UIOB-0425. It says many things; however, it does not answer the question let alone provide a solution. I queried business numbers for Steam and found (425) 889-9642. I called it, went through various prompts, and was rewarded with a voice mailbox after every path I tried.
I want to know why some achievements unlock yet others do not across numerous game titles. I do not meet the criteria for the above-mentioned link. I want to know why the Steam/Valve's business model appears to ignore its customer base by providing no direct means of customer support.
I realize Steam achievements are at most irrelevant compared to whether I enjoy playing a game. They do however prove a goal which enhances the gameplay. If Steam is unwilling to offer hard support to its customer base, then I will take my business elsewhere.

Why are you not posting in the discussion hub of the game you are talking about?

http://steamcommunity.com/discussions/#games

It's up to the developer to make sure the implementation of Steamworks features, like achievements, is done properly.
Valve does not provide support for third party games as they have no access to the source code of the game, or the knowledge on how to fix issues in it as game are very, very complex having hundreds of thousands of lines of code.

Having no clue where to take my questions because every attempt at finding a solution is presented with walls, roadblocks, detours, etc I ask my questions here. I have dialog with Wargamers.net, that I would happily post, if I could, to at least show that I attempted to solve a Steam issues with a game developer.

Furthermore, this is not a "one game title" issue. It spans numerous game titles.
Cathulhu Mar 20, 2017 @ 7:28am
Typical Wargaming move, never accept responsibility. Always claiming working as intended, just like in WoT and WoWS. And fixing it months later after the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ didn't end.

I already gave you a link, click it.
TalonIcefire Mar 20, 2017 @ 7:33am
So am I supposed to repost under that link? That's humoring what you say about Wargaming. This comment was given to me by a Wargaming representative, "As we believe that Achievements are being handled by the client and we don't have access to that client." Aside from you, I have not been able to contact anyone with Steam. So, is this a case of "pointing fingers"?

How to we, the players, fix this? If the fix is beyond the player, who do we reach out to, Steam, Wargaming.net, or some other entity?

Respectfully,
Robert G. (Steam handle: TalonIcefire)

Dear Robert,

Thank you for contacting Wargaming Support and it's nice to hear from you.

With regard to your Achievements failing to unlock, we would advice for you to contact Steam regarding this.

As we believe that Achievements are being handled by the client and we don't have access to that client.

I apologize for not being much of a help on this one but I do hope that Steam can give you proper answer to your concern.

Best Regards,

Alvin Matthews

Prior to opening my ticket with Wargaming, I went to Steam support. I am unable to find a means of dialog with Steam/Valve. There automated response directs me to Wargaming. Wargaming directs me to Steam.

Hi TalonIcefire,

Thank you for coming back to us.

I apologize however it is best to contact Steam support regarding this issue since it is for the Steam Achievements.

I made some research and I believe this is the link that you should be looking at since it has the steps to trouble shoot for steam achievements. https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=4462-UIOB-0425

I hope the information that I gave you was able to help you out.

Thank you for the continued dialog. I found the link provided by Haylee Halvorson yesterday while furthering my attempt to find a solution. What I have gleamed from this experience is that Valve/Steam's business model does not care about customer relations. That being said, I will be uninstalling Steam. I will not support a business that refuses to support its customer base. Again, Wargaming.net, thank you for at least providing timely, customer interaction.

Did you try asking in the forum and see if anyone else is having the issue?

Wrong. It's managed through SteamWorks which MUST have the trigger WITHIN the game to work. So, if it's wrongly implemented there is nothing Valve can do as the issue is not on their end.

At least he was honest.

sK|Elite|A*A*|, I looked on the forums. There are no answers, aside from "a glitch" posted anywhere that I could discern. Answers/solutions are not being provided.
Cathulhu, Who do I contact or how to I contact someone, a live person, from SteamWorks to find a solution? I will go to SteamWorks and continue following through, if I have someone I can work with.
Cathulhu Mar 20, 2017 @ 7:49am
SteamWorks is an API, not a company or group of people.

TalonIcefire Mar 20, 2017 @ 7:57am
Interesting you send me the link to the same site I was looking at prior to your response. There is no link or outlet to ask my question, let alone interact with a live person.
So basically, your response is that there is nothing that I or any other gamer may do to facilitate a response let alone a solution. Valve/Steam says its on the game developers to implement Steam achievements through SteamWorks. Wargamers.net, a game developer, says they do not have access to the client and it’s a Valve/Steam issue.
Am I missing something?
Cathulhu Mar 20, 2017 @ 7:58am
That's pretty much it.
I already told you that Wargaming loves to deny responsibility for their screwups.
TalonIcefire Mar 20, 2017 @ 8:13am
I have resubmitted a new ticket through Wargamers.net.
TalonIcefire Mar 20, 2017 @ 10:33am
Cathulhu,

As previously stated, I followed up with Wargamers.net. The following is their response.

Alvin Matthews March 20, 2017 12:33 PM
Dear TalonIcefire,

Thank you for getting back to us.

We apologize for the inconvenience this issue had caused you.

I would like to know where do you see the achievements? Is it within the Steam Client Counter?

Apparently, Steam Achievements are being handled by Steam client.

Wargaming.net is the one who handles in-game issues, like buttons/options not working, Rendering Settings, etc. Anything that happens within the game.

Here would be my suggestions, you may contact Steam forum moderator to get some answers but also get a second option with the Steam Support (as they know how their Client works).

Also here in my end I am going to send this issue to our Developers, (as I might be wrong) just to make sure that we can resolve your issue.

Best Regards,

Alvin Matthews
