Steam charged me to verify card.
I just tried to add funds to steam. Next minute, my steam is locked for 5 days because the card has had a ''recent increase in use''? I've used the same card many of times to add funds and purchase games. So because i've had a 'recent increase in use', STEAM is going to lock my account for 5 DAYS? This is a joke.

Further, they have CHARGED ME as a procedure to try verify the card. I want to know if this is an ACTUAL PAYMENT or not. The verification process didn't work by the way. I entered the 2 amounts they sent but they didn't take it.

I feel I am a victim at its attempts to fight scammers and hackers and all that. So much hassle with steam i ♥♥♥♥ you not.

PLEASE HELP.

you get the money returned after you verify the card, it's only a placeholder charge, as always, many companies do this. gas pumps take $100 charge for example.

I attempted to. I inserted the amounts that I saw however Steam said they were incorrect. I believe it's because STEAM runs on USD. I'm AUD. Will i get my money back seeing though I didn't complete the vertification process?

Either way, do you think this is acceptable? I have been treated like a victim because I've had a 'recent increase in use' on my card. Instead of ASKING ME if anything is happening, they LOCK my account for 5 days.

Is this how they treat customers?

This might be why:

In what currency do the amounts need to be entered in and how do I get the original pre-converted amounts?

The verification authorizations are sent to your bank in the currency that is used in the Steam Store. If the bank converts these to your local currency, you must contact them to request the original amount before any fees or conversions. The phone number will be on the back of the card.

Unfortunately, the market is a big target for fraud. If they don't notice the fraud until after someone's stolen money has already been transferred through the market to other innocent users, it would cause problems. Imagine having your items taken away because you unknowingly bought them from someone who stole them.

Okay so I will get my money back after 5-10 days. That's good to know.

However, I still don't understand why my account was locked just because I had a 'recent increase in use'. That's unnaceptable.

fraud protection because you did not call your bank to get the unconverted amounts.

But I have used my card many times. Yes. Protection. So much protection to the point you feel like a victim and you're being punished so they can protect you.

Many times on this site? Also, it could have been flagged due to an increase in time period of what you've been spending and how much it is, so the system deemed it as suspicious. Once it's verified, etc, you should no longer have trouble.

For the conversion, you can check on money conversion sites, even Google, to get the exact number.

Yes. It was flagged due to an increase in use. I've recently been working on my profile. Experiementing with many backgrounds and bought a lot of indie games to get my achievement count up. I was trying to buy an emote when I saw the message (attached).

P.S I converted the numbers they gave me to USD. It did not work. I have 1 attempt left.

Hi,

So are you saying to divide the funds I added by 100? I added 5 USD which for me is $6.50 AUD

So is my conversion rate 0.065? I then divide the two payments they sent me with 0.065?

Seriously though, how was anyone meant to figure this out if they didn't read this? Why is Steam making everything difficult.

Thanks.

P.S: I'm scared it won't work again because I have one attempt left and don't know what happens if I get all 3 attempts wrong.

You can try this site: https://themoneyconverter.com/AUD/USD.aspx

Or contact your bank and ask them the conversion.
