Steam.exe.old

PLEASE HELP my friend here had steam.exe.old file and i did the steps and renamed it to steam.exe but i didnt update itself and just stayed like that. is there a solution? im trying to help him get a hud. Thanks!

its a file which means me deleated and reinstalled steam

Man just unistall the old steam and delete the files and install it back again lol

It NOT will update itsef after rename, user will run it as Administrator and will be sure, that it not have dot at end i.e. after rename will be steam.exe

btw he can dl http://store.steampowered.com/about/ client, unzip it with an 7-zip archiver
delete all, except steam.exe, bin and public folder

It would not have been necessary to necro a thread over a year and a half old. You could have simply posted a new one.
