Why are my steam games lagging?
Ok so I don't usually post things like this so I'm not sure of what I should actually include but I will describe what's wrong. Recently my steam games and only them have been getting terrible FPS and I am not sure why. My computer when I got it could run them very smoothly and 100+ fps but one day I log into CS:GO and my fps is terrible, I then log into Unturned and the same thing, But then I log into other games like Contract Wars and i get fine FPS. If anyone can solve this please tell me I've looked all over the internet and can't find anything to fix it!

Cs:go is online and Unturned is both multi and single but I never play singleplayer

Besides that the games I play that work fine are also online and not on steam

Check the ping in servers. Someone in the sever who has high ping will slow games

k
I have a Phenom X4 9850 and could play CS:GO fine before too but with newer maps like Nuke and Inferno especially that dropped. With the sound update or thereabout I got worse quality too and now I get stuttering even on Dust 2.

I assume the game has simply become heavier to run. Nuke got new T-models which may be heavier.

New canals run well though. It's easier on the CPU than Nuke and even more so than new Inferno.

Graphical fps and connection speed fps are two different factors so check what one it is first.
I normally have 5 ms ping in CS:GO so ..

Ckeck to see what Steam is set to in STARTUP IMPACT to see if its set too low. To get to this goto TASK MANAGER and hit startup tab at the top. Also if you don't have auto-updates check for them for Steam, Video card, etc. Never hurts to check all for new drivers. You can also check while you are in the task manager to see if there is some new process eating up a lot of your resources, could have picked up a virus.
