friend wants to give me his game...
This is for any staff members. My B-day is coming up and my friend has a game that he does not like because it does not work on his computer. and he would like to gift it to me but it says he has to buy it again to gift it to somebody and he doesnt want to spend 30-40 bucks an a game to give me when it might be possible to just give me the game from his profile since it doesnt work on his comp. so for any stafff members and/or any other expierrienced steam gamers. is there anything that we could do to keep from having to buy the game again to gift it? i read somewhere on the wiki that if you ask the staff "nicely" they might allow you to make a trade or a gift like the one we are trying to do.

There is no way to change the account a game is tied to. He will have to buy it again to gift it to anyone else.

If there is a sale coming up before your birthday it could save him money but otherwise there is nothing that can be done.

Once in the library, it is part of the account and cannot be traded. What you read on Wiki was a lie.

Your friend could family share the game with you.

That links to the artcle and how to set it up. Just remember that any VAC bans/game Bans earned while sharing can transfer between accounts.

From the support article

Steam Family Library Sharing allows family members and their guests to play one another's games while earning their own Steam achievements and saving their own game progress to the Steam Cloud. It works by granting family members' access to your games on a shared computer.

Only one person can play a shared library at a time, and some games cannot be shared.

The game will show in your library for as long as family sharing is enabled. It does not give the game to you permanently.

Unfortunately, it sounds like your best bet is just purchasing the game a second time.
