Steam task bar icon permamently yellow
After the original update last weekend, there used to be an orange border on the left side of the icon. I managed to get rid of the orange by disabling auto-updates for my queued games (status change from "Update queued" to "Update required")

However, today, after installing the re-issued update, the icon is now permanently yellow!
I tried to clear the Download cache, as suggested in another thread (which is now locked), but the icon is still yellow.

I really hope I don't have to update/uninstall all of my games to get rid of it!

No...

I'm not updating GBs upon GBs of games every day which I ddon't currently play.
Haven't been doing it for the past years and never had a yellow icon.

Settings > Downloads > Clear Download Cache. This is a very annoying issue and leads me to constantly think I'm missing an update, but that's never actually been the case. Steam is great at keeping games up to date. Hope this helps.

Mine was stuck like this for weeks. Seems the issue for me was Steam's local configuration files, probably in the "userdata" folder. Deleting the game with the update didn't work. Clearing the download cache didn't work either. Following the oft-recommended steps of deleting everything but Steam.exe, the SteamApps folder and the userdata folder had no effect. Windows wouldn't uninstall Steam for some reason, so I just deleted the entire folder tree and reinstalled it. NOW the problem is gone - hopefully that fixes all the broken pages in the New Offers window, too.

Nope, it's back again. No installed games have pending updates, and I reenabled auto-updates for the game that I previously had them turned off for (before deleting the game altogether, because I was sick of a new 1GB+ download every time I started Steam).

GRRRR

Found the problem. Apparently there was a queued video driver update pending for download, but to see this I had to switch to Big Picture Mode. Top right corner, downloady-looking icon, showed "1" item pending. Clicked there, clicked the update, clicked Remove button.
