Very old account but I forgot the password
I changed the password on it to something more "up to date" a while back that I thought I'd remember but I just can't remember it.

I've never seen this before "Steam needs to prove your own the account" or words to that avail.

I sent my previous email address used as well as the current one but a phone number was never used or anything.

Is that it? Is it gone? :(

As long as you know your username and have access to your old email addy, you're fine. If you don't have access to either your email addy, or your password. Then you'll need to find some bank transaction records to prove ownership and given the age you say the account is.. that's not likely to happen.

I have access to both addresses, but I can't prove "economic ownership" (if you know what I mean).

:( really annoyed but thanks for helping man

I even included the old password (I had it written down somewhere ironically) in the ticket so maybe they might believe me ?

Well in that case, why not just go through the password recovery option. If you know username and have access to the old email address.

Economic ownership isn't even a thing there.

Because the steam support thing that comes up (which isn't the same as the normal steam "reset passwod email" thingy-mi-jig) asking that I can prove ownership before they reset my password :(

I've never seen this method of account recovery before. I've never had to "recover" a password with this account though. This I believe is the first time.
