What happens if someone charges back a Steam giftcard I have used?
I won a steam giftcard in a giveaway but I'm worried about activating it in case they chargeback. I don't mind paying the money that I owe for the things I will buy but more about incase my account is banned since Steam Support is a little low quality :(

Thanks!

Gift cards aren't bought directly through Steam.

Unlike gift copies of games.

So even if a chargeback is issued, Steam Support isn't going to hunt you down. :NONPLUSSED_CREEP:

Same thing as everything else. If a charge back is issued the retailer will revoke the card and you will be left sans the money you added,. If you already bought a game with those funds, then those game licenses will be revoked and removed from your account.

What if you bought something on the market?

Why were games/items removed?

With any chargeback, funds are held from Steam or returned to the cardholder. Since the funds are removed, the product is temporarily locked.

If a dispute is closed and the funds are returned to Steam, the content associated with the dispute will be restored.

this goes for all forms of payment to steam.

Thanks, but if I didn't buy the giftcard originally then I cannot pay for it?

nope.

that is the chance you take with any giveaway.

if they issue a chargback, you are at their mercy. "IF"

Shame to let your giftcard go to waste, especially if it's completely legit.

Buy wallet funds for a new account and wait a couple months ... If it's still there, then use it.
