Non-Steam games keep disappearing!
I have to keep adding back my non-steam games for Uplay every time I start up Steam. This even happens when I restart Steam through exiting in the menu via the top left. Why is this happening? I literally just reinstalled Steam and I don't wanna have to wait an hour to move my games out and back in...

EDIT: MY STEAM IS NOT CREATING A SHORTCUTS FILE IN USERDATA, HOW DO I FIX?

I am having the same problem, makes using the brand new Steam Controller I just got mostly pointless. Will likely return the hardware if this can't be resolved quickly.

Do you all log out of Steam manually? Or do you just shut down your computer with Steam still running and let your computer shut the program down?

Often times when Steam doesn't "remember settings" it has to do with people not exiting Steam manually. To manually exit you need to go to the top where it says "Steam - View - Friends - Games - Help".. pick "Steam" and then "Exit"

Or.. right click on Steam in the System Tray and pick "Exit" from the Steam menu that opens.

Anyway try manually exiting Steam at least once after adding a non-steam game. Emm! if you already exit manually then i dunno what else to suggest. i'm not having this problem with non-steam games and always exit manually.

I exit team via 'Steam' in the top left then exit. The problem is now fixed.

I fixed this by first moving my steamapps folder to somewhere safe, uninstalled steam, reinstalled steam and moved my steamapps folder back.

VERY SIMPLE FIX!!!! Just go into your config folder then right click "Shortcuts.vdf" folder click Properties then tick the box "READ ONLY" and save! YOU WILL NEVER LOSE YOUR NON STEAM GAMES IN YOUR LIBRARY! HOWEVER........ please remember YOU MUST UNTICK the read only box whenever you want to add a non steam games or when you want to delete a non steam game. YOU MUST TICK READ ONLY After new non steam game is saved or if you delete a non steam game.. This works perfect! to find "Shortcuts.vdf" first make sure you have change file and search options. UNCHECKED. To check go to your C: drive open it then click file tab top left corner then click change file and search options and then click the view tap, then find hide extensions for know file types and UNCHECK THE BOX. save then exit. You can KEEP this setting off forever.

Now, here is how to save your non steam games from disappearing. C:/SteamDirectory/userdata/SteamUserId/config. Follow the above directions and enjoy your steam controller!
