Using steam on new 4k laptop, please help!! (ui scaling)
Recently got a new laptop (HP Omen). First thing I noticed is some steam games have smaller text than on my desktop I've played on. Annoying, but doable. Then I noticed that anything from steam overlay is completely unreadable, microscopic text. I don't use overlay that much so I ignored it.

Just recently purchased Crusader Kings II and now I am forced to deal with the issue. CKII is completely unplayable. I can't read a damn thing anywhere. Adjusting in game resolution can make it more bearable however i have two huge black bars on the sides of my screen. I have tried to play with different resolutions in NVIDIA control panel without success (matching resolutions was unplayable, too small). I tried right clicking Steam.exe and toggling and untoggling "disable display scaling on high DPI settings." which made the problem worse when checked. I have googled the issue only to find people solving it a way that doesn't work for me or people who seemingly still have the issue.

Any help would be EXTREMELY appreciated. I do not have scaling issues anywhere outside of steam games.

Steam Overlay does not offer any resolution scaling and is not really meant for 4k monitors.
So you will have to live with the small font. For Crusader Kings 2 there exist mods that let you rescale the font/UI ingame.
A lot of games ( especially older) are just not made for 4k monitors and will have really small fonts.

That's very unfortunate to hear. I'll have to look into the mods, but I expect that to be extremely difficult as the CK2 launcher screen is extremely small and unreadable. Not sure if I can even navigate my way to get the mod...

Try Big Picture Mode. I just hope Valve steps up their game and updates the UI to 4K soon.
