How to deal with account restrictions
So a few months ago, I was with a guy and while I was sleeping, he logged on my computer and gifted himself about $300 in steam games. I didn't notice this until a week later when I tried to buy something important. Fight broke out and we broke up. Went to Steam support, attempted to refund, they wouldn't let me because gifts. Went to credit card company, got it refunded.
Fast forward, got about 12 different warnings from Steam on my account, making the restrictions 9 weeks (until March20th). The last one, however, saying "This account is now restricted due to excessive chargebacks."
I do not want to give back those games to my greedy ex but god knows I don't want to have my steam account permanently crutched. Steam support will not do anything until EVERY TRANSACTION is recharged on my card. You can tell I have been an avid purchaser for several years now by my collection, but I don't think I would make another account for the sole purpose of purchasing and transferring to this account, implying I can even accept gifts anymore.

Any help would be SUPER STELLAR since I can't figure out how to submit a ticket in the proper category to Steam Support anymore.

Edit: I forgot to mention, sites like steamdb show that I have no restrictions or bans or anything of the like. I understand I could be just paranoid, but I also understand that I could end up on March 21st with an account with no use or chance of change or expansion

EDIT: It's 2 years after now and basically, I had the warnings for the duration and then everything went back to normal after. It wouldn't let me buy anything in the steam store or participate in market transactions or trades. I could still play games during this time, however.
I can do everything like that now, and I also can get refunds on games if they're done through steam (which is a feature now as well). Hope this helps anyone looking into this.

You had 9 week to cancel the chargebacks. Failing to do so will result in your account blocked

It's part of the ToS when you first make your account. You are not allowed to charge-back.
SteamDB isn't associated with steam or valve at all. So even if they said you have no bans or restrictions that's on them.
" This site is not affiliated with Valve, Steam, or any of their partners. All copyrights reserved to their respective owners. "
This is what it says on the bottom of their site for SteamDB.
This is the old forum but here's more information why charge back isn't allowed: Info 1
Same problem - This one a mod respond to why it wasn't allowed.

Seriously?
There's only 7 messages now so if I reverse those, will I still get blocked?
Mewsie Mar 8, 2017 @ 10:50pm
Or do you guys think I actually truly have to charge again every transaction
Snapjak Mar 8, 2017 @ 10:54pm
Every single transaction.

Tough decision between letting an ass keep games or keeping your account intact.

I don't save credit card info to any device especially if i think it will be used by another person. But you should be able to take your ex to small claims court. Your local PD might consider it theft under 500 (misdemeanor crime). If he did not have permission to access your account im pretty sure there are some legal issues right there such as id theft. That sounds like a very petty bf if he steals from his partner for video games. I work so my gf does not have to. I pay for anything she wants and needs. As a matter of fact I just got her the unreal deal pack for $40 tonight when we realized our laptop could run and let us play ut99 together. In my family we were were taught that the man is to take care of his woman not take from her. Relationships are built by two people who strive to give to each other. Anything else is parasitic. Be glad that it only costed you what it has. I've seen men and women who have been brought to a piece of bread by an untrustworthy partner.

EDIT: If your not able to pay the charge backs and your account gets blocked make sure you have a list of your games and prices and sue him for the sum. It upsets me that steam can't handle the matter internally and charge him for the damages. I'm sorry that this is happening to you. You will be in our prayers. We hope you get the justice that you deserve.

Because you can prove so well he did that and not OP, right? Steam does not have fingerprint security.

I can see that. It would be cool if we could enable text or email verification when making large transactions like when you sign in on another PC. But im sure he might have had access to those as well if he could get to her steam account.

Me to work so she not to ? Hell no WE both WORK we both enjoy the fruits of our payment together else she can start search and better be fast before she got old and the gold digger mind of hers with tits and ass not gonna do the job anymore. Cause they are tons of gold diggers 2000+ 2017 2017+ and yes there are men also. But women i hate more dunno why maybe cause they can break the heart of a guy for a second.

So far so reasonable.

Which is natural.

You can't. Basically nothing leaves your account, and nothing comes into your account.

This is between you and your BF. Either way, steam is not going to lift that until you pay back those chargeback fees. WHat you can and probably should do, is take your friend to court for the amount.

This thread was not made so you can insult me, sir, but rather to help me figure out if I need to take truly legal action to resolve this or if I'll be fine by just waiting it out.
