Duplicated key
Hi,

I bought a Steam key in another store, but the software says it's duplicated. I informed the store about it, but they requested that I contact Steam and ask when was the key activated and send them a screen of the reply. That makes sense. It might well be a con on my part. However I have no idea how to contact Steam. I tried to google it, but I guess there has been some changes in the interface. For all I know I have to create a seperate support account, but I don't know how. Besides would they actually give me the date of the original activation?

Thank you in advance for help.

No, you won't get such information. That store also knows that. You have been scammed. File a dispute with the payment and only purchase from authorized resellers.
Those have the tools to get such information directly. But generally, with authorized resellers such male cow excrement does not happen in the first place.

Alright, but is there a way to contact Steam? At least I could send the store a reply where Steam refuses to give me the date. I still hope it's not a scam.
Tell them, if you could get that information, they could as well.
Steam doesnt give that information.
Demand your money back or take it by a chargeback (ONLY do that with fraudulent sellers)

Why dont you just contact the Steam Support ?
Because steam allready told, its a duplicate key?
Could you please tell me exactly how to contact Steam support. I have no idea how to do it.
Press help in client.
But dont waste your time.
Press help and then what? There are some categories to choose but at the end there is no contact link.

Thanks, but I have already read this. It says I should contact my store, which I did and the store told me to contact Steam.

The store is wrong. Steam has nothing to do with these keys. Its up to the store to handle this.
Send them the page i linked, and if they still refuse i'd do a chargeback. Because they are obviously trying to scam you.

You might be right. I just thought it it wouldn't hurt to contact steam support even if the chance they help is thin. So once again: is there a way to contact Steam support and if so how to do it?

And again, no. They can not help you with third party sites/keys. There is no way to contact them about this.

there is no need to contact steam support as steam support most likely wont give you that information, if anything you need to contact the publisher/developers and have them look up the key on the partner site and see when it was indeed activated but I can not see why they would provide you with that information tho either they might be nice and do it anyway.

what you should do is tell the third party site to contact the developer/publisher they made this deal with since one would assume they have some sort of business contract between them and therefor could request the dev/publisher to check the keys themselves.

either way, i would recommend you not to bother steam support with this, and perhaps go the game hub make a topic where you reach out to the devs/publisher of said game perhaps even look if they have a contact form themselves but i would really recommend telling the site u bought it from to do this as it is on them otherwise i would do a chargeback on their site as they sold you a faulty key not the publisher nor the devs nor steam/valve.

Okay I can already tell you did not buy from a reuptable store. Steam won't give that sort of information to another user. They as a retailer are the ones that need to contact steam and ask. And there are few places on the internet that would ask you to send a screen. because anyone can fake a screenshot with a few minutes in mspaint.

It might well be a con on my part. However I have no idea how to contact Steam. I tried to google it, but I guess there has been some changes in the interface. Again. They're not gonna give you that info. The retailer (if they are a legit retailer) will tell you.

By any chance op. would you care to mention the site you bought the game from?
