Did you trade items for gifts in the same window at the same time or did you go 1st then he went 2nd?

He did not do a refund, he did a fraudulent chargeback.

He went 1st I went 2nd. The games were fine for about 2 days then I got a message that one of the games had been refunded. and then the other one was not playable, I have a shopping cart icon where my play button used to be

So you didnt trade, what you did was give away items for free as a gift and you ticked the box that says these items are a gift i will get nothing in return and steam support will not return any gifted items.

Stop doing this. Your items are gone, the games are gone. Steam support will not return any items.

I dont understand what you said.

how is it possible that he refunded the games though?

And why didn't you do that in a single trade window? That alone should have ringed enough alarms to not do this "trade".

He did not refund them. He canceled the payment, making a "chargeback". Since Steam did not get any money the games will be removed. Its a common scam tactic.
Only trade Item VS Item in ONE trade window. No going first, not giving anything to a middleman, not getting items verified by an "admin".

Well since steam has this great idea of gifts not being tradeable for 30 days after you buy them.

You never made a trade, you sent and received a gift.

Yeah I see that, Its not like Im angry about it or whatever I didn't lose much, but still charging back like that allowed?
Cathulhu Mar 6, 2017 @ 8:16am
No, that's why i said he did a fraudulent chargeback.
He not only scammed you, but Valve as well.

Alrighty, well thanks for clearing things up guys, it sucks that I lost the items but atleast I learned.

No it's not allowed but he got his money back and an account lock and the games were removed form your account because the gift was charged back by the sender.

If you trade items for gifts in the steam trade window at the exact same time then steam support can help.

If you click the box that says these items are a gift you will get nothing in return and steam support will not return any gifted items then thats what will happen.
