Why cant I find my friend on steam

Basically just made this thread so that I can send the link so someone could find me, because the steam search system is worthless

Contact your friends through thing called "The Real Life" and ask link/address for their Steam profile page. You can add them from there. Also tell them your username as well before you add them just in case.

Yeah, I would suggest asking them real life. They probably somehow gave you the wrong user or something because I find the search system really helpful. Also I have a way I found one of my friends without having their exact username. Just search up what you think the user is and if it's close to their actual user, then there should be users popping up, then just see which one would most likely match there personality or there life. (For example lets say one of my friends says they love steam and have it, and live in the US. I would look for the US symbol close to their name. And then lets say that exact person also had the games gmod and gta, then I would see if the user had those two games in their inventory) This way might not be the most helpful way to do this, but in my opinion it really helped.
