Navigating the Windows 10 desktop with a controller

I used to use a piece of software called CONTROLLER COMPANION but I found that it interferes with the Steam controller software that was recently released via the beta.

You can do this without any software besides steam.

Big picture>Settings>controllers>enable xbox one or PS4 controller.
Now if you got the controller detected by steam you should be able to just minimize the steam big picture and it will controll the desktop. Right stick is mouse for example. Screenshot: https://i.imgur.com/zXBZIxe.jpg

You can edit this if you want:
go up one and go to "controller configurations" and select desktop with the controller connected and there you go. Edit the buttons there.

You can do the same for any game, play mouse only games with your controller.

What controller are you using, how did you connect it to your PC?
