Noise Cracking after several minutes of game play.
So I got a fairly nice system. i7 7700k, GTX 1080 8GB, 16gb mem. I'm playing 4k, the game is great. Only issue is that after maybe 20 rounds, the sound completely bonks up. I have a onboard Realtek HD audio system.

However, the sound only messes up in CSGO. If I alt-tab out of game, and pay spotify, the sound is perfect. Again, only after 20 rounds, then no matter when I play CSGO, the sound will begin cracking, buzzing, pitching low/high.

Now the ONLY way I've been able to fix this is by doing the Verify Integrity of the Game Files. Once I do that, and I reinstall that DirectX thing or whatever it does, then I can go another 20 matches with the sound being fine.

THIS IS SERIOUSLY MESSED UP.

Either way, I can stomach doing this, but this really needs to be fixed.

I know people will say UPGRADE ur drivers, well I did that. Use different drivers! Did that too! However, I don't think it's a straight up sound card issue, since outside of CSGO the sound is perfect.

So CSGO engineers, I know ur working on VR games nobody is ever going to play cause VR is totally lame and a complete marketing gimmick like 3d TV, but please when u get a chance, take a look at your #1 game totally sucking sound wise on brand new systems. PLEASE. Thanks! :)

Try disabling HRTF in CS:GO's options and play.

Sound may not be as great, but I think HRTF has bugs which may cause the sound to be wonky.

I lol'ed.

IMO play spotify (whatever that is) while you are playing CSGO and post back: after 20 rounds, does the sound of both get screwed up or only the sound of CSGO?

or what the previous guy said. not a bad idea.

not sure I have even played CSGO since they put HRTF in. I may have to try it again.

I'll give that a try. I think I did try it and I was still getting it, but let me do it again just in case.

Have not tried playing music while playing, but will give it a go.

Btw when I said rounds, it's more like matches, maybe 10 or 20 matches total. It goes on for a while, which is why it is bearable, but still.

Praying to the CSGO gods for guidance over here.

Well, still getting the crackling even when music is on in the background. And the music in the background is playing perfectly fine. Also, disabling HRTF had no effect.

STEAM, FIX YOUR PRODUCT.

when you verify integrity of game cache, does it find errors and fix them, or does it say everything was fine?

and what is this "reinstall that directx thing" you refer to?

Doesn't give any messages, just does the reinstall directx deal when I launch CSGO again.

when you finish verifying integrity of game cache it will either say "all files successfully validated" or "[#] files failed to validate and will be redownloaded" (or something like that).

if it doesn't do that then your steam is broke and you should reinstall :P

however if it is reinstalling DX each time, that sounds like it is downloading a new file when you verify. something weird going on.

not to jump to a conclusion but it might not hurt to run diagnostic tools on that HD and make sure it is working right.

are you using any mods?

My system seems to have been working lately, not sure if it's legit or will break again. I believe it says "All files successfully validated." but I'll wait to do it again to see what the message is.

It is doing the DX reinstall every time.

I've suspected an HDD problem, however, I am using an SSD. I have not tried to install the game on a different SSD to see if that changes things. I think the next time it does, I'll reinstall the system on a different SSD HD. Haven't had any disk problems at all so far. Would be really unfortunate if that was it. (It's a 256gig M.2 SSD btw).

Using no mods at all.
