can someone steal my IP address via Steam Chat In 2017

a guy tried scamming me and he wanted my Skype I said no because of my personal information then he said it doesn't matter because I got your IP address I seen another discussion like this before but it was in 2015 so did steam fix it yet if not what can I do to prevent a DDOS attack or something like that plus what could I do with it

Knowing a IP address generally means nothing and if you don't run a own server, a DDoS doesn't means anything either.

Voice chat. Anyone can steal your ip and your personal information if you have voice chat on. To prevent a ddos attack. You have to get a new ip by restarting your router. That way it changes your ip.

A game with voice chat? Delete it.

IP Addresses Do you have a firewall? If yes then you're cool. If not. well there's not much that can be done anyway. IP addresses can be changed, spoofed and proxied .

no I am talking about voice Steam Chat when you say reset it you mean turn off and on right?

so just to be sure, people can ONLY get your ip via voice chat, not the normal steam text chat?

IP address is of no value to them unless your PC is unprotected and just sitting there waiting to be hacked. Everybody is always connected to the internet. We are all just nodes on the WW Web.
