RECOVER AN ACCOUNT WITHOUT ACCOUNT NAME, PASSWORD OR MAIL, JUST THE PROFILE ID.
So a couple years ago I created a Steam account for my brother and bought him some games, he played and liked it and yadayada. Skip to last year when he changed computers and forgot his account name and password. All we have is his profile on steam (76561198043834769) because he is friends with me. Now I'd like to recover his account and password but he also doesn't know what mail he used for his account.
So I contacted Steam, back when the support system made sense, and showed them that my account had bought him the games and that his account had only me as a friend and that it was obviously his and which mail was used to create the account. They helped me reset the password, etc.
Now my brother changed the mail and forgot his account name again! And for some reason steam deleted my support ticket and I can't find it!
How can we recover his account with the new (♥♥♥♥) support system?

Log out of your current account and visit help.steampowered.com ---> My Account --> Can't login

It's not that hard actually.

And no, he can't see the account name on his computer because as I said above, he changed computers.

You didn't read the text, did you?

We don't know his account name nor the email attached to his account.

I did read. And yes, that support option has that covered.

I'm not sure how you expect to recover it by basically saying "I know nothing about the account give it to me"

The whole "i am friends with them so give the account to me" is not proof of anything either.

If you supposedly 'made a ticket last time" then you would be able to log into your existing support account and get the information, which would be things like the email you used (which you now claim you don't know AGAIN) and the account name.

Steam helped me last time and we recovered the account. Now it's lost again due to my brother's idiocy. I just want to know how to contact someone from Steam. I want to make a ticket like last time.

Do what it says. Just because your brother forgot doesn't mean he can't guess.

If you actually try to enter something and it doesn't work then it will move to another option.

Note that it says after trying " In order to recover your account as quickly as possible please try to search for your account again."

So have your brother sit and try to enter anything that could be the name. Any old account name he can think of.

Probably good so he might be more careful in the future.

They probably do this because some people don't even try.. Forcing them to try might help them find it and save everybody time.

Enter your best guess for the account name.

Note last time you knew the email address. This time you literally are saying "I know nothing please give me the account"

Do not blame support because of a continued PBKAC error of not knowing either the registered email or the account name. Especially when this PBKAC error is happening MULTIPLE times.

No, last time we had the email address but not the password for it (little brothers, right?). So during the process, they linked the account to MY EMAIL, all the proof they needed is that that account had only me as a friend and all the games were bought by my account.

Seriously, why doesn't steam show the account name on your profile, it's just dumb.
Cathulhu 22. Feb. 2017 um 10:49
Because the account name is used for login. That's like saying:
"Seriously, why doesn't steam show the password on your profile, it's just dumb."
Forcen 22. Feb. 2017 um 10:49
and then what? Did you leave it connected to that email?

Have you tried entering that email?

You can't log in without your password, and you can't change your password without access to your email. So no, it's not like showing your password. Any other site shows your account name.

We used my email to recover the account and then he changed it to his and lost access to it.
