Product code invalid

I'm trying to add a game to steam. When i enter the cd-key it says it's invalid.

Then its either not a Steam game or you entered the code wrong.
Which game do you try to activate?

Is it a game that uses Steamworks? Most other retail games don't activate on STEAM - Does it read on the box that it needs a STEAM account?

well, whatever you do, don't post the code here.

but make sure you have all the 1s as not Is and Os as not 0s etc.

The sims 3 Late night

All retail copies of Sims 3 and the Addons only activate on ORIGIN, not on Steam. If you bought a retail version in the shop, those are always for ORIGIN. Only if you buy directly on Steam will you get the Steam version. ORIGIN versions and Steam versions of Sims 3 cant be mixed.

What you can do is activating your Steam Sims 3 on ORIGIN. You will get a free version of Sims 3 on ORIGIN that way. So install ORIGIN and use the key from your Sims 3 game on there.

To get you Sims 3 key just click the game in your library and choose "CD KEY" at the top under the PLAY button. It will show you the keys of all Sims 3 products you own on Steam.
Those keys will also work to activate the game and Addons on ORIGIN.
Then you can activate this new code you got also on ORIGIN to get Late Night.
