not getting Steam guard authenticator codes notifications

it been going on for the past few days, tried removing the authenticator and uninstall the app but that did not work.
i have the lg g5.


EDIT:
a solution by slug

1. Delete steam on your old phone
2. Clear steam app cache on your current phone (google how to do this if you don't know)
3. Log back into steam
4. At the prompt, chose the option that says something along the lines of "remove the mobile authenticator and go back to using e-mails for verification."
5. Follow whatever it says to do to log in
6. When you're logged in, head to "Steam Guard"
7. Follow the prompts to setup the steam mobile authenticator

notifications only the guard works if i open the app but i dont get any code notifications

Go to your phone's settings > More > Application manager> steam > Show notifications
Something along those lines, that's how it is for my phone, might differ for yours

it wasn't disabled to begin with but i disabled and re-enabled and it didnt work

yes, its just annoying when u need to sign in steam through some apps u cant minimize the app and u cant use the code because it expired unless ur lucky

Yo man, I managed to fix my issue by opening up widgets on my phone, going to my steam authentication widget, and just putting it on a page somewhere. After I did that, the codes started popping up in my notification bar too, and you should be able to remove the widget afterward, and still have the notifications come through. I hope this helped, because this problem has been troubling me for a few weeks now.

all i had to do is delete cache and the app and then restart my phone and redownload it but ty ill know for the next time
