2 computers at the same time
Hey guys. New to this. My Son and I have about 30 games each in our steam library. I recently installed steam on my personal laptop. I noticed that if he is on the desktop playing his games, I can't log into steam at the same time to play my games even offline. It's too late now but should I have set up my own steam accout on my games since neither one of us plays each others games? Is there anything I can do at this point? thank you.

You can check out Steam's Family Sharing for information on sharing games between accounts. However, when one user is utilizing the library, the other ones becomes inaccessible.

I'd probably recommend creating two separated accounts for playing games at the same time.

isn't it too late to make 2 seperate accounts for the games we already put into our steam library? I was told that they are licensed to our main account forever.
family sharing from what i read still only lets you log into one account at a time.

Correct.

You can still create an additional account to fill with additional games. Steam accounts are intended to be utilized by one personal ideally; but now with the Family Sharing option available.

thanks for your help. I appreciate it. So let me get this correct for future games. Since I never play his games and he never plays mine, the next game I buy, I should make my own steam account since they are free, downlaod my game to that, so that way even if he is playing online in our main steam account, I can still log in and play my new steam game on my new account?

Absolutely. If they're free games, or even paid games -- creating an additional account and adding them to the library of the separate account, you two will be able to play together if he's on your other account.

Edit: I re-read your response, and I'd like to clarify that if you create a new Seam account, add games to that account, that's perfectly fine. If your son is on your main account (or even the new account you made with its own games), then he'll still be able to play games while you're playing as well across the two accounts. If they're Steam Family shared, those certain few games that share will be limited and not accessible at the same time of game play.

I hope that's clear :^)

i didnt know you can move games from one account to another.

i thought i read that even offline mode has to be logged into first to play.

you must to be on online mode to play a game from the other library that shared to you, but you can not let the other play from your library when you on online mode. so if you just want to play from your own library, and still want to let someone access your library in the same time, you can just play with offline mode, and let the other account access your library online

Is there a one time transfer or some ♥♥♥♥ for people who weren't aware that they couldnt' share games with their kids and still use their account at the same time?

No. The games are permanently bound to the account.

If I have purchased two steam licenses for the same game and both licenses are assigned to the same steam account, can I play the same game on 2 computers at the same time using the 1 steam account?
