Steam.exe.old in Norton 360

I installed Steam onto a USB separate from the C:Disk and all was going well until today. Steam updated itself, but then files from its usual folder started copying themselves onto my desktop (like appache, bin, all the dll files, etc.) and I resorted to deleting all of them (which was probably really stupid in hindsight). The only file remaining is Steam.exe.old which won't delete because "the file is open in Norton 360." Does anyone how to get rid of it (the Steam.exe.old file)?
