BPM how to browse more files problem!

O.K. I need help. I have been trying to figure this out the past 3 days. I want to install NON STEAM games to my Library. I CAN do it via steam desktop mode. click add non steam game (not in list) No problem.... I click browse find game exe. file and add game change icon and it plays PERFECT even plays in Big Picture mode! BUT here is the problem...... The game(s) disappear every time I shut down PC or shut Steam off. 'shortcuts.vdf' file trick does NOT ever work' But that's another problem. Anyways because they disappear, I want to add non steam games into my library running in BIG PICTURE MODE. Again while "IN" Big Picture Mode there is a tab says "add non steam game in Library" I click it.....BUT the list only shows about 20 shortcuts to add to library. My game is NOT in that list being displayed and "THERE IS NO BROWSE FOLDER" option so I can browse more folders to add my game. IT DEFAULTS ONLY SHOWING ABOUT 20 SHORTCUTS. So...... here is my question.... is there a shortcut key or controller shortcut key to BROWSE more folders when in Big Picture Mode? also if there isn't what folder are the 20 shortcuts stored in? and if you know the folder on the desktop side...can I just add the game exe into that folder so when I click add non steam game the results will show 21 shortcuts and not 20? I already tried menu shortcuts folder where I see many in the list but that didn't work. In case your wondering why I want to install add non steam games into my library via steams big picture mode vs. desktop mode is because I have the Alienware Alpha R2 with Hivemind. When I Launch My Alienware Alpha it starts in Console mode and I have Big Picture Mode already engaged shutting off the desktop side for smooth play. So being in Hivemind (Console Mode) there is NO DESKTOP mode for steam. ONLY Big Picture Mode. So being I'm in that mode and games disappear before I switch to Console mode, it would be so easy to just add game while I'm in Big Picture Mode and play my non steam game. I don't mind re adding it.. as long as THERE IS A WAY for me to view more folders or add somehow. UNLESS someone knows EXACTLY how to fix the disappear non steam games that always happen. and by the way.... I NEVER HAD A 'shortcuts.vdf' option in my config folder ever! people say click it and tic option READ ONLY however that folder DOES NOT EXIST. I reinstalled steam 5 times and no 'shortcuts.vdf' folder. I can add folder but it's the typical yellow folder and not the true folder it should be. PLEASE SOMEBODY... Please go into Big Picture Mode and from BIG PICTURE MODE add game and look at your list.. do you see about 15-20 shortcuts? or do you see your entire directory drive? Do you see a button "BROWSE" more folders option? Please help.
