Your Steam account: Access from new computer
I haven't used steam in over a year and all of a sudden I started getting these emails "Your Steam account: Access from new computer" from steam every few days. I have changed the password and email twice now and the emails continue. My PC is virus/malware/RAT/trojan free. I've even changed the password from my tablet and still the emails continue. The email states that someone from some euro country tried to access my account with correct username and password but from unrecognized device. The email contains an access code needed to access my account. How are these clowns keep getting my new passwords?

your computer isn't as clean as you think, what makes you think it's clean? did you do a full scan with roguekiller, malwarebytes anti malware, and kaspersky, as well as consult the bleepingcomputer forums for hijackthis logs and what not for full cleaning?

I do weekly scans with all of those along with combofix and hitman pro. it's clean.

Clearly none of you grasp the concept of FUD.. Some things aren't detected right away

if all else fails, reformat and reinstall your os and change all your passwords.

Like I said, I changed the password and the email from an android tablet. I would think that if I had FUD on my windows PC, I wouldn't have the same FUD on my tablet. I have now changed the password again from my phone. We'll see if I continue to get these emails from steam telling me someone is trying to access my account.

UPDATE: it recently started to happen again. I haven't used steam ever since this thread, but somehow continue to get these emails that there was a login attempt from another computer. The login attempts originate from different proxies (RU, JP, EU).

I emailed steam and their answer is "doesn't look like your account has been compromised".
I changed my email and password for my steam account multiple times from 3 different (clean) systems including my cell phone. This is not a trojan/virus issue. I made my password with random characters, so I doubt it's being brute force cracked. How the hell are they getting my password? Or are they even getting my password? I wonder if steam just auto generates these emails regardless if the attacker has the right or wrong password. Doesn't seem like my account has actually been accessed as they would need to get the steam guard code that is auto generated when trying to login via proxy.

Strange.

Does your e-mail provider offer an email password/account in case you use a different mail program in addition to the account password?? If it does and you don't use it yourself check if a password was set and change it.

Same problem here. I even did a hard format, more than once, but after a while, I always keep getting these e-mails. I have no idea how they are getting my password. I haven't downloaded anything that could be infected (no music, no torrent, no pirate games, etc)
This is what the mobile authenticator is used for.

Sounds to me like Steam Guard is doing it's job protecting your account! :)

The same exact thing is happening to me, I changed the password from my phone and never entered after that and yet emails keep coming...
Is it possible Steam's database is being hacked and they got our password from there? 'cause it's the only possibility i can think of
