Special, emoji-like characters in Steam names?
I was just perusing the forums for a game, and I came across something I'd never seen before: a user with a special character in their name. Not a #, $ ,%, etc., but something you'd find in the emoji list on a phone. It's a green box with a check mark in it.

Is this something special to Steam, or does Steam allow these sorts of characters in user names?

The post in question: http://steamcommunity.com/app/454650/discussions/0/133256959381154980/

It caught my eye because the green checkmark/box stands out against all the other plain names of authors in the list of threads. It made me think he's some kind of mod/admin/dev/etc., but I can find no other evidence of that.

Like mine? It is a unicode emoji. Just google "unicode emoji" and you well get a ton of lists.

Yes, like yours. I didn't realize Steam allowed these characters within user names. Neat.

Yes. As stated Steam uses unicode so they work.

This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
