Denuvo doesn't let me play a game offline?
Hey, I'd like to know about why you don't require games to announce if they use Denuvo or not?

It's downright criminal for an offline game to require internet connection or else it won't permit you to play the game. If I buy a game and make a backup of it on a notebook, I should be able to play it without internet, but Denuvo doesn't let me play if I don't log on the internet for x amount of days.

This information should be written on the products main page.
"Product has Denuvo. You need to authenticate online every x days."

Could you answer me please?

Each store page does tell you whether or not Denuvo is in use for that particular game.

The time you took to make a post here you could certainly have used to connect your notebook to the internet and activate the game.

Don't like Denuvo? Do your research beforehand or buy DRM free titles.

Blame the pirates. Enjoy the game. Peace out~

"doesn't let you play offline" is not the same thing as "need to authenticate every X days."

Also I though denuvo worked forever as long as you where online when you installed it? which you probably where since you downloaded it using steam.

Steam might be the one thing that doesn't work offline forever..

I was told it needed to authenticate every x days depending on the game.

So if you backup your game and try to play it on a notebook after those days and you don't have internet, Denuvo will block you from playing the game you bought.

Not every store shows it.

Resident Evil 7 has a warning but Tales of Berseria doesn't.

And my problem isn't only that the store doesn't show if the game has Denuvo or not, its that you never know how many days Denuvo needs before it blocks you from playing the game, this should be public information.

It is public information, a quick Google search shows that.

This is too vague.

What should I search to see how many days until Denuvo blocks me from playing the game I bought?

This should be on Steam store, lets be honest.

You're honestly asking why you should do any research on the products you buy?

Are you mentally inept? I asked what should I search on google to find this Denuvo information, which I can't seem to find for every single game since they don't disclose it.

For example how many days until RE7 blocks you from playing it if you don't log online? My google-foo is pretty good and I can't seem to find this information.

I'm not mentally inept only Ocularilly. Evidentally.

Your whole question is based on an assumption or a speculation that is wrong. You where told from someone or somewhere that this game won't work offline or will stop working offline and you just assumed it was true and now ask here for more info about how long it works?
Why are you not asking for more info there? Or linking the source?

Go back a step and find info that supports the first claim. I can't find anything that suggest that you can't play offline after activating it.

So you're telling me Denuvo only authenticates once? I've seen a lot of reports that in x days it needs to authenticate again.

I'm asking you to stop taking facts from forums or rumors and ask for proper evidence, reasons or info before asking follow up questions. That includes me, even though I didn't really try to state any facts.

Can you link any reports?

Here is the official info from the store page:

Incorporates 3rd-party DRM: Denuvo Anti-tamper
5 different PC within a day machine activation limit
Basically activate max 5 times within 24 hours.

This is what I'm getting my info from, what about you?

Various posts on this thread.

Like this one: "As a corner case (active serving military in an area with no internet, etc): It DOES need to phone home on occasion. The frequency varies based upon the version"

Or this: "i play single player mostly when my internet goes down (comcast goes down for me once a week normally) and denuvo games never work unless i was playing them online the same week. on a personal note it is from the starforce people and they killed a bunch of dvd burners on me to the point that i could not rma them anymore. they destroyed the firmware on them and i will never trust anything those people do to not be some sneaky way to mess up computers."

Or this: "I don't pirate games, but am sometimes without internet for a few days at a time, there has been a few occasions where I went to play Doom and it blocked me."

Also from the same thread:

https://whyisdenuvobad.github.io/

Denuvo games require reactivation if you haven't played them in a while or if you change any of your computer's hardware, and you must authenticate with Denuvo servers every time you receive an update (Simply allowing Steam to update is not enough. You must also open the game once while connected to the internet after each update). They don't require always online, but they do require sometimes online. Some people don't believe this, so here's proof: http://imgur.com/hm32xle This is from a user that left it in offline mode for a week or so and didn't play it. This wasn't their first launch.

It's kind of annoying that there does not seem to be any official info about this..

It looks like some denuvo games might have some activation thing after a certain time but it's hard to see which ones or how often..
This is kinda annoying I agree.

I can't find any info or reports if this is an issue with resident evil 7...
Just this which suggests that it doesn't have it. https://steamcommunity.com/app/418370/discussions/0/141136086933879203/

The activation after a patch I think is fair, I guess it should really activate after the patch since you might not play it until some time after and be screwed.

According to this there is a way to activate offline using some website: http://pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Digital_rights_management_(DRM)#Denuvo_Anti-Tamper
I guess via your phone or something?

I can see that this might be annoying of you have a need to be offline for long periods, this should be a clear thing before you buy games with this stuff.

I also think that denuvo might be the least annoying DRM since they stopped doing the limited activations via SecuROM. There are still some games sold on Steam that has only 5 activations and then you can't install unless their support helps you.
Personally I think this is worse since it affects people who actually are connected to internet and use this online service (steam) and yet get punished for installing to often.
Because of this I have been wary of ever playing the crysis games...
There are just a few games with limited activations on steam left, most of them have patched it out: http://pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/The_Big_List_of_3rd_Party_DRM_on_Steam#SecuROM

Sounds like some games removes denuvou eventually also, I guess resi 7 should do it also if it was cracked already and they don't plan to fix it.

Still if some new uncrackable version of denuvo or its replacement arrives and it has very clear offline rules or a decent offline mode I would be Ok with it.

If you have a problem with internet connection then you maybe not buy resident evil 7 until they release more info about resident evil 7 OP or wait until they patch it out.

Still the question in the top post is not really the right reason to avoid this game since that won't work on many games on steam that doesn't use denuvo.
I haven't tested this but I would be very surprised if you just copy the folder of any general steam game to another PC not connected to the internet and have it work.
Steam itself is DRM, most games won't launch if you don't have steam running.

There are a few exceptions to this, some steam games are DRM free: http://pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/The_Big_List_of_DRM-Free_Games_on_Steam
