Rebuy permanently removed games to change license
A few months ago I bought some games from a 3rd party seller online for Steam. The games came in CD-keys and as gifts. I was very naive back in the day, because I was always trying to look up for the best deal out there and I thought it was legit, but I have come to know and have got better information on how this 3rd party sellers work and the amount of problems and situations I couldn't get it, and if I knew, I wouldn't buy from there but directly from Steam, as I'm going to do from now on.

I do not want to lose my account because of this purchases I've made out of Steam (such as the games I bought could have been bought with stolen credit cards, etc... and therefore my account gets suspended, as it states here).

So with this new feature to remove "permanently" games from my library, I thought maybe I can delete the games I purchased from 3rd party sellers (as they do disappear from your licenses) and I can buy them on Steam on sale. But I found out you can restore these deleted games.

My questions are:
1. If for some reason a game I bought from a 3rd party seller was redeemed from illegal ways, if I remove the game, am I immune to any consequences?
2. If I remove a game, and then buy it on the Steam Store, do I get a new key/license? (one different then the one it came from the gift/key) and does it says in the account licenses as it was bought from Steam Store? Or do I get the same license back and I am still prone to any consequences?

Sorry for the long post, I just really want to protect my account as I didn't knew in I was getting into when I bought these games outside Steam. Thank you in advance.

The consequence of the game being illegally purchased is that it will be removed from your account. You do not get a new license key, no matter how many times you buy or redeem the game, you will always get the same license key on this account.
Thanks for the fast answer.

So the game being removed from my library is the maximum punishement I can get from it? No suspense or bans on the account? Because as it says in the link I posted: "Any accounts tied to a redeemed gift from a fraudulent source may be suspended."

And, imagine if this happens and a game is revoked. I need to buy it again, and if I buy it, a get a new fresh license, right?
I believe that is only applying to gifts bought directly through Steam, to prevent scammers from buying the game as a gift with a stolen payment method, and gifting it to their alt account. Maybe, maybe if you redeemed a large number of fraudulent gifts. I've never heard of it happening though.

The license key, in terms of AAAAA-BBBBB-CCCCC-DDDDD-EEEEE, is always the same no matter how the game is removed or how it's added back. That won't effect you however as Steam would recognize you had repurchased the game, and that it was a separate transaction.
It makes sense.

So imagine I permanently remove a game that I bought out of Steam from my library, and then I buy the same game, but this time from the Steam Store. In terms of characters of the key, as you said, it would be the same, but Steam knows I bought from the Store and even if later in time something happens with the gift from the same game, it won't get revoked because I repurchased it from Steam. Is this correct?
the keys you already activated do not need to be removed, they are not illegal by any means. you have been fed the wrong information by biased morons. they are not illegal, they just have high risk and keys cannot be revoked by sellers, they can only be revoked by the devs. gifts can easily be revoked when they are carded, if you have had them more than a while chances are they are staying. also removing them doesnt really remove them, its a glorified hide button cause when you go to the store it will still say you own it..

That's correct, yes.

Thanks for the clear up on that, and it's true, the product really stays linked to you after you "permanently remove it". Guess they did that to prevent when the account get's stolen or so and the person deletes all the games for good. They could just use the Steam Authenticator to confirm the delete of the license, but let them do their work...

Alright, thank you very much for helping me with this issue. Appreciate it. Hope it also serves to other people realize it is just better to get it from the Steam Store. Avoid risking your account and support the developers!
