Controllers not working... No D-Pad or Right Analog Stick

WTF Happened?!

My Xbox One controller was working just fine, until a few days ago. I had reinstalled Steam and noticed "Controller Configuration" in the settings of Big Picture Mode. I found a setting that said "Xbox One" I clicked it thinking it would be benefitical. To my dismay, everything got messed up from there. I lost D-Pad and Right Analog Stick support for nearly all games. I also lost the guide button menu in Big Picture Mode. This is frustrating as most fighting games are played with the D-Pad and not the Left Analog stick. In games like State of Decay, I cannot access the some of the menus or rotate the camera. Quite a few of my games are now unplayable. This is so frustrating.

Can't you just disable that setting and go back to how it was before?

If you want it to work try opening the overlay in big picture go to controller settings and try to set some other binding.

Thanks Forcen! I have full functionality back in my games. I selected Generic Controller Config from the Big Picture Controller Config menu and all is good. However, I still can't get the menu to come up by pressing the guide button. Ill figure that one out next.

omg... so steam was the issue?
I tried forever to figure out why my d-pad and right analog stick weren't working anymore!
