Need to disable function keys for gmod

So I bought a windows 10 HP pavilion, and I need to disable my function keys (f1 to f12) so that when I press them it doesn't increase my screen brightness instead of opening an ingame menu.

I have tried going into cortana, searching for keyboard, but there is nothing in those settings to turn it off, I have searched 'system settings' but the only result is 'advanced system settings' which yields no results.
I have also tried holding esc and f10 when the laptop is booting up, but nothing, it automatically puts me onto my desktop pretty fast.

Please can someone help me so I can play my games properly again? Thanks for reading.

I've already tried going into the BIOS, I don't think it's possible on my laptop as I've already stated it boots up too quickly and there is no login menu, it automatically puts me into the desktop. Holding alt and pressing one of the f keys does work, however only when holding alt, I want to permenantly disable the f keys.

Hold down the Fn key on your keyboard and then press the F1-F12 key you want.
