Slow downloads on a high-speed connection
I just got a 100 Mbps fiber connection, and am using WiFi (5GHz), yet downloads are slow (around 2 MB/s) and peaking like crazy.

I hosted some screenshots of the task manager performance window, where these peaks show up, here.[imgur.com]

I have tried switching download servers to no avail... Is this just common or is there something wrong? I used to download at a constant 8 MB/s...

i have the same issue and yes my regions good and throttle is unlimited
Downloads are subject to disk write speed. How is that? Your DLpage in the Steam Client might provide the answer.

From your screenshots it seems that your disk is very high, is this because of steam?
How high is it if you exit steam?

If you go here what speed do you get? https://fast.com/

If you open the download page on steam what is your peak speed? And disk usage as said above.

No answers on this one? I'm on a 1Gbps connection, and some days i get good constant speed, others I get tiny spurts of 2-4MB/s

As i wrote before, DL speed is subject to Disk Write speed.

Tipicle for DLs via Steam, huge packages get DLed, written to tempfile compacted, then need to be extracted & installed. This might be done 1 or a few packages at a time before continuing to the next batch of packages.

And you know "1Gbps" is not the same notation as "2-4MB/s", 1 is in bits/s and the other is in Bytes/s.

A Gbit is 125MB so he is right to complain about receiving 2-4MB\s

Yep no answers, apart from the obvious, some days steam servers are low on bandwidth.
