(SOLVED)Gifted game getting a chargeback.
So i just got a msg saying a game that had been gifted to me a month ago has been revoked from my account because a payment did not go through.

What happen to me?
What happens to the idiot who made the chargeback?

How bad is this?

Note: i did not ask for the game. I got gifted it fir christmas by a guy on my friends list who i helped agers ago.

Should i be worried?

Nothing. The gift/game gets removed.

Account being suspended unless the chargeback is paid back.

Usually only if you have traded items for it.

Nothing will happen to you, but if the person who bought it did a chargeback, his Steam account will be suspended. He will have 9 weeks to reverse the chargeback or else the suspension becomes permanent.

Or it could just be a mistake with his payment processor, you should ask him to talk to them about it.

It was for free. And what gets paid back to where? I did not do a charge back i dont even knownif it is yet but i assume it is. I never had any say in the chargeback or wht ever happened to make my game get taken. It was a gift not a trade.

The original purchaser who chargebacked the gift gets their account suspended and they must pay back the amount that was forced back. You have nothing to do with the chargeback any further other than the game being removed.

Whoever bought the gift would've had to do the chargeback. Basically he could've lied to his bank and said "Hey, I didn't buy this game, someone stole my card, gimme my money back." So his bank takes the money back from Steam, and Steam suspends the account because it's a very common fraud tactic.

So what happens when a account gets blacklisted or suspended?

Found this from another thread:

Purchasing, gifting, trading, cd-key activation, playing online on VAC enabled game servers, and Steam Community access have been disabled. If the chargeback is removed, this restriction will be lifted and the content will be returned to your account.

So what happens with uplay? Its a uplay game meaning iys also activated on there. But if i click play on uplay it takes me to the steam store page of the game.

You would have to ask Ubisoft's support what happens beyond the key getting revoked.

Just to make clear, you are not involved in the chargeback! Only the original purchaser is.

this is correct.

it sees you had the game but you no longer have a license to play it. that is why it takes you to the store page.

Cool. Thanks guys really appreciate it!
This is worrying:

Redeeming Fraudulent Gifts
Never accept a gift from an unknown user. Any accounts tied to a redeemed gift from a fraudulent source may be suspended.

That makes me nervous.
