STEAM crashes my computer whenever I launch a game!! Thanks valve
So i tried playing csgo and when i joined a match i was stuck on world initializing. I tried to ctrl-alt-delete but it wouldnt work and my computer froze, although my mumble chat was astill working. I force shut off my computer and restarted. Now whenever i launch a game the screen freezes and audio bugs out and my computer is crashed. EVERY GAME.

Ive tried:
-Verifying Game cache
-Restarting Steam
-Restarting computer
-Updating Drivers
-Turning off anti-virus

Im running windows 10 but i doubt that is the problem because this all started with trying to play that CSGO game, thanks valve for breaking my computer

However the problem is not from VALVe, the problem is because your "Windows 10" it is a really big piece of garbage, Windows 10 it is not good for game launching and many stuff with games

Update: I completely unistalled steam and reinstalled. installed CSGO problem still occurs.
Game launches makes it to start screen sometimes then freezes causing audio loop.

Any fixes????

It first occurring in CS:GO is likely just a coincadence, as it's every game from that point on and there's nothing specific about the game that would cause such an issue. Personally after checking windows event viewer, I'd move on to doing a clean uninstall/install of the gpu drivers, move on to monitoring temperatures, and if I hadn't found anything at that point I'd run a gpu stress test (I use furmark but there are others as well) to see if it also causes a crash.

Anyhow just a few things to consider on how to proceed now. Hope it ends well for you.

I found a fix :steamhappy: it took 3 months but I fixed it!!!!! all you do is right click on your steam shortcut and click open in file location. Then you will be directed to a steam.exe icon in your steam folder. Richt click the steam.exe then click properties. go to compability tab then check the "run in compability mode" click the rollup bar and click windows 8. restart steam That's it.

Try it.

update: Its not only steam games, any game so it is most likely hardware. Which doesnt make sense since moments before i was playing csgo. One match glitched on connection so i force shut off my computer which may have caused the issue. Anyone tech savvie have any idea what it couldve caused and how to fix it?

Forced shutdown can cause data corruption, but won't harm hardware if you did it via holding the power button down. If you did it by something else like, literally pulling the plug, this can actually cause voltage spikes which can damage components.

To check for Windows data corruption, right click the Windows start button, select command prompt (admin)
Type sfc /scannow (there is a space between sfc and /scannow)
That will scan all your important windows files for corruption and replace them if needed. It will take some time to finish, approximatly 15 minutes or so if I had to guess. If at the end it says "Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations" then that's not the issue. If it says it repaired something, then that may have been the issue. Restart and try to game again. If it says it can't repair, restart your computer in safe mode, and run the scan again.

Now as for my previous post, are the games freezing instantly? Freezing in numerous game's is typically a sign of heat issue's, but this wouldn't typically occur instantly, but would take a few minutes for the heat levels to rise. There are quite a few free programs to monitor your temperatures with, two of the more popular are Speedfan and MSI Afterburner. I don't know what specific card you have, but you can find the heat threshold on amd or nvidia's website for your specific card. If you get to this step, it'd be helpful to post your gpu info here as well as the temperatures you encountered while idle and while gaming before the freeze.

For the clean install of the drivers. The following is a good step by step guide. It's good practice to do this anytime you update your driver's as well. Because simply updating them without fully uninstalling the old one's can lead to issue's.
https://www.computerforum.com/threads/how-to-completely-remove-and-reinstall-graphics-drivers-amd-nvidia-intel.230370/

I've got to get to sleep, but hopefully all of these are clear and the first one you try resolves the issue. If none of them work, hopefully someone else will come along and be able to help out. I'll check back when I get off work regardless. GL
